How You’ll Help Us Better Serve Our Clients

The Collections and Billing Manager is a key member of our shared services team, reporting to the Director of Finance. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, confident individual to have direct influence over improving, running, and maintaining the firm’s collections and billing processes and systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a professional services environment in a role that is responsible for accounts receivable.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience and grow within a collaborative team that is there to support you every step of the way.

What You’ll Be Doing

Every day will bring new and exciting opportunities to learn and grow, but below are some of the regular tasks you can expect to work on:

Work with cross-functional business stakeholders to improve and modernize billing and collections processes and systems;
Manage Accounts Administrator and Billing clerks;
Meet with each billing lawyer periodically to review WIP, accounts receivable and trust balances;
Update, analyze and streamline reporting for all key stakeholders and the Accounts Committee;
Responsible for reminders and follow up of accounts receivable;
Review and report on write offs;
Document and maintain credit limit processes;
Monitor and maintain credit limits;
Track, set up and monitor special arrangements and special billing rates;
Manage and report on special collection projects;
Ad hoc and scheduled reporting;
Tracking of contingency files; and
Other projects as required.

How You’ll Be a Great Fit For This Role

This is an ideal position for a person with exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to manage collections with initiative and drive. The following qualifications are also required:

Excellent verbal and written communications, skills clear and concise;
Ability to explain and understand financial concepts;
Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn;
Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills;
High level of professionalism and confidence with the ability to build credibility and work collaboratively;
Ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy;
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task while responding to changing priorities; and
Ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications also include post-secondary education in a related field, coupled with at least five years of relevant experience.
