Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is a new role within a larger corporate structure with multiple programs under the Aviation Maintenance Overall (AMO) division. The primary responsibilities will be centered around timely and accurate financial management, analysis, reporting and budgets/forecasts for the AMO. This position plays a critical role in providing direction and oversight on all program costs. The Accountant, Manager will supervise, guide and mentor a local team comprised of a senior accountant and analyst.

This position is located on-site in Calgary, AB.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day accounting operations and provide support to the accounting team
Implement and oversight of corporate-wide accounting policies and controls
Work closely with the accounting and operational teams to review processes, implement best practices and improve productivity
Review month end account reconciliations
Update and maintain accounting and reporting systems
Manage and prepare month end financial statements and MD&A
Develop and maintain monthly management reports and internal AMO KPIs
Prepare and interpret month end financial statement analysis
Analyze and report on company costs related to a specific program
Work closely with operations, HR, and shared services to prepare and maintain the annual budgeting and forecasting activities
Lead internal weekly finance meetings
Ad-hoc reporting and financial modelling
Liaison for external auditors
Support to the Controller and overall “go to” for the team

Qualifications & Skills:

Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
Professional accounting designation required
5+ years of financial management experience with increasing responsibilities and complex roles
Exposure to reporting requirements and GAAP accounting standards
Thorough working knowledge of the GL and sub ledger accounts
Previous experience in operational accounting and/or manufacturing, preferred
Key user of ERP system (Visual / IFS), an asset
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient in Power BI, and financial modelling
Understanding of shared services model for finance
Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with an attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
