Job Description

As a Credit Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the credit portfolio by working with Profit Centre Managers to determine credit limits, risks, and opportunities.

Additional duties will include:

Analyze data and determine credit risk for new customers
Set credit limits collaboratively with Profit Centre Managers
Recruit, develop, coach, and lead a team of world-class credit professionals
Inform Profit Centre Managers when there is a change in a customer’s business that might have a negative impact on their credit
Build relationships in the credit community to understand the marketplace, identify opportunities and risks
Collect on accounts while maintaining healthy profitable customer relationships
Obtain proper documentation including personal guarantees and letters of credit
Monitor lien rights and file claims when required
Initiate legal or recovery actions; prepare documentation for legal claims when required
Support Credit Analysts in making difficult collection calls and visiting customer sites when necessary
Ensure all Credit SPI’s are followed and implemented at the Profit Centres
Perform other tasks as requested by the Region Manager

Qualifications

College and/or University degree – preferably in a finance or business-related field of study
Certified Credit Professional designation
A minimum of 2 years of management or leadership experience
A minimum of 5 years of credit or finance experience
Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office
Possess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity
Excellent interpersonal skills and sound business judgment
Thorough understanding and interpretation of credit bureau reporting
Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile accounts
Able to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders

Preferred Skills:

Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre
Knowledge of the construction industry
