Our Tax Manager would lead the day-to-day operations of the corporate and indirect tax function. The successful candidate, you will be accountable for the compliance and risk management related to corporate and indirect tax for all the legal entities under the Forbes Group of Companies (Canada/US).

Key Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for governance of Canadian and US Corporate and Indirect tax including developing/maintaining policy and processes to ensure tax compliance and minimize risk for the business
Responsible for overall management of all US Sales and US tax compliance as well as Canadian GST/HST and PST compliance & reporting
Prepare and filing State, Provincial and Local transaction tax returns. Ensures accurate and timely filing mandates are met for each state, province, country
Directly manage tax audits from conception to resolution, communication with the taxation authorities, evaluating and filing appeals and working with internal and external business unit contacts, legal counsel and subject matter experts as needed
Ensures the company stays apprised of tax changes and that relevant stakeholders are informed of the impact on our obligations and how we bid, contract, and manage work in various jurisdictions
Communicate technical analysis and recommendations to the organization related to taxability of company products/service offerings, nexus determinations, exemption decisions, tax decisions, strategy to minimize tax, etc. Ensure treatments are understood and adopted internally
Works cross functionally with departments (including operations and estimating) to provide guidance on tax implications of bids/contracts and associated input costs
Other projects and duties within the financial services department as assigned

What We Are Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) preferred but not required
Minimum of seven (7) years of applicable tax experience,
Minimum two (2) years of experience in a leadership role
Strong foundation of technical, analytical and compliance tax, including process design
Intermediate knowledge of and experience with indirect tax principles and law
Experience working in a rapidly expanding, multi-entity organization with multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements
Experience in the construction industry considered an asset
