What is the position?

The Manager, Internal Audit is an integral part of the Internal Audit team, who will provide assurance, insight and proactive control advice to Management and stakeholders on controls, efficiencies, and risks by leading the planning, execution, and reporting of audit engagements.

This role will critically assess the design and effectiveness of our operational, financial, and regulatory controls and ensure that we are in accordance with best practices, while developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.

How will you succeed?

Audit Planning – Responsible for the identification of key business processes and their inherent risks, the control environment, and the residual risks.
Audit Execution – Assess key business risks and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of related processes and controls, while identifying and communicating control weaknesses and inefficiencies to Management. As required, lead team members through the execution of test procedures.
Audit Reporting – Responsible for the communication of results of the audit engagement to Management, including the severity and materiality of the issues and potential impacts to the organization.
Teamwork – Participate in a collaborative team environment to proactively assess risks within the organization and ensure that risks are appropriately mitigated.
Communication – Demonstrate clear, concise, and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing audit reports, resolving conflicts, or interacting with Management and other stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement – Develop strong internal and external relationships through ongoing communication on progress of engagements and providing advice on risks and controls.

What will you bring to the role?

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strengths in the following key areas:

Education – Successful completion of a post-secondary education in a related discipline (e.g., Business, Economics, Data Science, etc.). In addition, the completion of a Professional Accounting (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Experience – 4+ years of relevant experience within the Financial Services industry with focus on Investment Management, Asset Management, and/or Wealth Management preferred. Internal and/or external audit experience (including knowledge of regulatory requirements), prior Big 4 experience, and/or Project Management experience would be an asset.
Data Skills – Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, with practical experience utilizing data analytics and/or data visualization.
Putting the Client First – Demonstrates the ability to explore broadly and continues to innovate, while thinking critically and generating ideas with the team and stakeholders.
Delivering Business Value – Your strong analytical skills and financial acumen of the industry provides meaningful value-added insights to our stakeholders.
Managing Complexities – Demonstrates a high attention-to-detail while utilizing critical thinking skills to inform your decision making.
Building Effective Relationships – You demonstrate strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills to effectively lead engagement staff to achieve audit objectives. In addition, you thrive on interacting with stakeholders and building relationships across the business.
