Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Maintenance, Construction & Turnarounds, the Manager, Turnarounds position will be accountable to lead the turnaround management process including long range outage planning and optimization, tactical outage management, scheduling and execution, progress tracking and escalation, as well as lessons learned and continuous improvement.

The position is based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.

Accountabilities

Develop and deliver project management plan for turnarounds (TA), which includes the accountability to ensure all TA milestones are met with planned high-quality deliverables.
In alignment with the TA milestone schedule, ensure that all optimization actions, assurance reviews, schedule optimization workshops, peer reviews, etc. are completed
Develop and ensure that there is one integrated TA schedule that encompasses all business partners.
Develop and ensure compliance to all appropriate work processes.
Develop and coordinate the TA resource plan that is required to plan and execute the assigned TA.
Develop and deliver the communication plan, which includes identifying stakeholders and escalating issues to ensure appropriate communications to Leads, Turnaround Events, Core Team, and Steering Committee.
Ensure TAs are planned and executed in compliance with safety and environmental standards and regulations; adhere to standards and procedures with the objective of zero harm to employees, the environment, and neighboring communities.
Be aware and comply with position relevant regulatory, legal, and Sherritt policy requirements.
Develop and deliver project risk management plan which includes all scope being risk assessed against accepted practices and established risk tolerances.
Develop, implement, and facilitate the use of Visual Management Boards to monitor, display and analyze performance against KPI’s
Remove obstacles (alignment, resource constraints, work processes) to ensure successful execution of the TA event.
Co-facilitate the management of the execution team with the Manager, Maintenance, Manager, MCAT Services, and Manager, Major Maintenance & Construction during TA execution.
Act as the project management content expert and coach and mentor the TA team on project management principles and theory.
Organize and facilitate the TA event lookback, post investment review, and identification of future focus improvement areas.
Develop TA continuous improvement strategies with the TA Team Leads.
Support Leads, Turnaround Events, developing tactical implementation plans and procedures that align to TA strategic initiatives.
Ensure site TAs stay competitive through continuous improvement initiatives, participate in industry benchmarking, networking and TA auditing.

Qualifications and Skills

A degree in an Engineering discipline or journeyman trade certificate.
10-15 years’ experience in turnaround management, maintenance execution and/or operations.
Proven experience in Construction Management, with a Project Management Certification.
Working knowledge of manufacturing technical disciplines (engineering, millwright, instrumentation, electrical).
Previous work experience in refinery or industrial facility preferred.
Working knowledge of EAM, Primavera, MS Office Suite and SharePoint will be considered an asset.
