Job Summary

SLANG is seeking a motivated Senior Manager, Reporting & Technical Accounting to support the finance team by providing timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and by evaluating complex accounting issues. The candidate considered for this position will be a highly organized self-starter with great attention to detail.

Responsibilities and Duties

Consolidating monthly reporting from SLANG subsidiaries in accordance with IFRS
Owning all financial reporting including analysis and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports
Develop a strong working relationship with external auditors and playing an integral role in the completion of quarterly filings and annual audits
Determine appropriate accounting for transactions and advise senior management on a variety of technical accounting issues including the preparation of accounting memos and policies to support business initiatives
Monitor developments in accounting standards to assess potential impacts to the business and lead the implementation of new accounting standards
Responsibility for certain areas of accounting for stock options and derivative instruments
Compile and review the supporting schedules, content and notes for the external financial statements and the MD&A
Oversee the month-end close process for the subsidiary legal entities including, journal entries, account reconciliations
Working with subsidiaries to design, develop and enforce financial processes, policies and procedures
Providing guidance and assistance to subsidiaries on financial challenges both technical and operationally
Completing special projects and undertaking new initiatives as they arise

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in accounting/business administration required
5-10 years of experience at an accounting firm
CPA designation
Proficient in IFRS
Audit and valuation experience
Demonstrated proficiency in multi-currency consolidations
Experience reporting in the cannabis industry an asset
Motivated employee who can handle autonomous work as well as work within a team environment
Results oriented with high standards for quality and driven by deadlines
Ability to build strong working relationships and respect of co-workers both locally and internationally
Intermediate-to-advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel
Experience with SAP Business ByDesign, Accumatica, Fathom & CaseWare considered an asset
Problem-solving and time management skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
