Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Supervisor, Accounts Payable is responsible for leading and managing a small team whose goal is to ensure our Suppliers are paid accurately and on a timely basis while achieving company objectives. This position supports cash management activities, vendor master data administration, employee credit cards, internal controls over payments, month-end journal entries, HST returns and auditor requests.

This position drives continuous improvement of Accounts Payable processes throughout TPA and has enterprise risk mitigation responsibilities. The Supervisor, Accounts Payable is a collaborative role, working closely with the business operations to ensure that Suppliers are paid appropriately.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable function, including managing and supervising the Accounts Payable team, and ensuring the efficiency of the function
Foster a strong team environment and drives a customer first mentality on the Accounts Payable team
Ensure vendors are paid timely and accurately, and that internal and external inquiries are answered timely and accurately
Oversee all payment transactions (EFT, wires, checks, etc.)
Maintain complete and accurate vendor records and general ledgers
Timely and accurate preparation of month-end accruals so that financial statements are accurately presented
Proactively reconcile supplier statements regularly
Ensure the Accounts Payable team is adhering to TPA policies and standard operating procedures
Take a direct interest in establishing and maintaining internal controls and procedures to protect the assets of the TPA
Continually seek to improve the team to close any gaps, and increase efficiency and effectiveness with recommendations, implementation, and maintenance of process improvements. Keep abreast of best practices in Accounts Payable
Build solid relationships across all business units at various levels with proactive communication and an understanding of their needs
Provide reports to key stakeholders as requested
Manage employee Corporate credit card programs including new employee onboarding
Act as subject matter expert for primary bank interface to ERP and payment investigations
Act as the lead for system testing and improvements
Manage the requirements of the external auditors as it relates to Accounts Payable
Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

A College diploma or University degree, with a business, finance or accounting focus
5 years of relevant or transferrable experience
Strong understanding of financial controls in the accounts payable cycle
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with vendors and team members across the organization, across all levels
Substantial ERP AP and Purchasing modules experience, specifically SAP for Hana
Ability to influence operations functions/managers with effective communication, collaboration, and relationship building skills
Effective leadership skills to motivate, manage, engage, train, and develop staff and create positive team environment
Well planned, organized with keen attention to detail
Must have worked in a high invoice volume environment
