1. Position Summary and Job Magnitude

The Accounting Manager, Off Campus is responsible for ensuring the financial function for Off Campus managed properties for Campus Living Centres and any related affiliations are completed accurately and to industry standards. This includes the management and administration of the Finance Department for Off Campus managed properties and the preparation, administration and monitoring of: monthly accounting, financial planning and reporting.

2. Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Finance

Provide support and supervision to the Finance Department for Off Campus managed properties.
Ensure that all month-end financial accounting duties and all resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner, distributing month-end statements by the due date to clients.
Coordinate all activities within the Finance Department for Off Campus including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting.
Directly supervise and support the Accounting Supervisor, Senior Property Accountants and Property Accountants for Off Campus at the Finance Office.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Assist in the recruitment, training and performance evaluation of Finance personnel.
Review monthly HST returns and other remittances as required.
Provide support in the development of business proposals.
Supervise and assist Accounting Supervisor with monthly income statement analysis and distribution.
Review cash forecasts, accurately predicting cash needs and distributions.
Assist with treasury functions for cheque and bank payments.
Keep abreast of federal, provincial and municipal developments, laws and policies that may affect the financial operations of the organization.
Oversee the preparation of year-end audits and liaise with external auditors and clients as required.
Ensure clients have all necessary information in a timely fashion.
Maintain a professional business relationship with all primary contacts.

Qualifications

Education:

Recognized University Degree
CPA Accounting designation

Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years industry experience or equivalent
