We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our team. This position will be responsible for our payables department with expectations to oversee most financial activities of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This is a key leadership role that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to Senior Management. This position will provide the duties required for Accounts Payables while benefitting from a full-time and competent Receivables team member.

A secondary company (owner of building) with a minimal GL will also be maintained.

The salary range is dependant on the skills and experience that the individual has. We are comfortable growing with the individual from a payables role to a controller role providing the dedication and willingness to educate and learn is there.

Responsibilities:

Performing the duties of accounts payable
Match purchase orders against invoices
Enter invoice details
- Some sub-contractor invoices require entry into a secondary system
Pay invoices in a timely manner to ensure no interest or penalties
Manage petty cash and collect/review receipts and reconcile credit card statements
Reconcile all accounts
Print and prepare cheques
Conduct regular account reconciliations and perform account analysis
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations
Monthly HST submissions
WSIB and EHT submissions
Oversee the preparation of year end and ensure compliance with tax regulations

(Goals) Responsibilities to be added to the role

Manage most aspects of the company's financial operations, including overseeing accounts receivable
Overall review and maintenance of the accounting system to ensure a clean yearend
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
Manage relationships with external auditors and other financial institutions
Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve overall efficiency
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in accounting standards

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree preferred)

- CPA designation is strongly preferred

- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role

- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations

- Proficient in accounting software QuickBooks Online (QBO)

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Familiar with working with Canadian tax codes (all provinces) and Canadian and US Currencies

- Effective communication skills to present financial information to Senior Management
